Hi Dawn,
We have found the Junior Duke Award to be an extremely positive addition to our wider personal development and enrichment offer. It aligns brilliantly with both our school values (Independence, Motivation, Aspiration, Resilience and Respect), the British Values and the development of responsible citizens.
The award provides the children with meaningful opportunities, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones, practise new skills, and demonstrate commitment over time. The sense of achievement gained from completing tasks helps children to recognise that success often comes through effort, determination, and a willingness to keep trying when things are difficult. These are qualities that we actively promote through our school values and are keen to nurture in all pupils.
One of the greatest strengths of Junior Duke is that it supports the development of the whole child. It complements our enrichment strategy by providing structured opportunities for pupils to develop life skills, character, and cultural capital beyond the academic curriculum. The award maps strongly against the enrichment benchmarks, particularly in enabling children to develop personal interests, life skills, leadership, responsibility, community awareness, and experiences beyond the classroom. It also gives children opportunities to celebrate achievements that may not always be recognised through traditional academic measures, which has been particularly valuable for building confidence and self-esteem.
I believe the award complements our collective ambition to develop well-rounded young people who are ready for the next stage of their education and life. It supports our shared vision of creating resilient, aspirational, and responsible citizens, while enhancing the wider enrichment experiences we offer.
Getting started with The Junior Duke Award
The Junior Duke Award is completed at no cost to schools. Each child pays a small fee and we send the materials directly to you, ready to be distributed. If families ‘buy in’ the minimal fee, they are much more likely to work together to complete the challenges.
Our shop is home to everything you need to get your school involved. You can purchase packs for each of the first 8 age groups, each one containing a colourful, sturdy interactive workbook (or access to our portal), certificate, and metal badge.
For all of these levels, schools may choose access to the portal or workbooks.
For the two Senior Duke levels, pupils are given access to our Senior Duke portal (no workbook), plus a certificate and badge.

The Junior Duke Award Online shop
We have everything you need to run the Award available to buy on the site. You can purchase packs for all age groups in your school. For the primary school levels, each pack contains a workbook, certificate and badge. Children take pride in their hand-written self reflections and enjoy discussing their new skills and colourful workbooks with teachers and families.
The two Senior Duke levels include access to our senior portal plus a certificate and badge.
